Dopai Dojo
This is a space meant for players who want to improve—not just in game, but also outside of it. Let’s grow together.
My Story & Why I'm Building This Community
I'm Dopai, I want to share a little about my story. I've been gaming ever since I was 5 years old. And I took that to the next level as a freshman in college with Fortnite, becoming a semi-pro and flying across the country to play in tournaments.Eventually, I switched over to Valorant trying desperately to become pro. I graduated college and gave myself a gap year telling myself that I can make it.During that year I created my team Pho Real and eventually that became Run It Down and we competed in T3/T2 tournaments against many of the players that you see today. The unfortunate reality was, the entire time I was grinding to go pro, I hated it. I hated myself and my inner critic was eating me alive. And eventually I quit. After that year was over, I had nothing to show for it. I was a 95-lb 21-year-old who had failed at chasing my dream. I went through the darkest period of my life, compounded by some personal struggles. I finally understood the saying: "When it rains, it pours." And the entire time I felt alone.Looking back, it didn't need to be like that. Maybe if I surrounded myself with more support, I wouldn't be here but instead on stage. The next 3 years, I went on a bit of a personal development journey and I've learned so much about myself. During that time, I was also coaching Valorant for those 3 years and I've helped countless players improve at the game. Ironically showing me that I didn't have to do it alone. So eventually I came to the idea to build a community. I want to create a space where we're all supporting each other so no one has to be alone. The culture will emphasize the importance of being kind to those that cant be kind to themselves, while also inspiring everyone to move forward.
What to Expect for Valorant
Now, you're all Valorant players. So let's talk about how to get better at Valorant. In order to learn effectively you need to review and reflect on your gameplay. The problem you might be having is that you don't know what to look for. That's where vod reviews come in. There'll be office hours where you can submit a vod to get reviewed for personalized feedback. You'll walk away with learning objectives created for you.Once a week there'll be a lecture to cover topics targeted to helping you improve. Things like the most common mistakes I see when I review vods, or how to get a better mental. Finally, there will be pro reviews so we can create a playbook on how to get impact on our agents. This is probably the most overlooked thing with most of my clients. An actual gameplan.
Here's the Idea
Valorant being my expertise, we'll use Valorant as the medium for improvement. Since Valorant is a hard game and it's only gotten more difficult these past 5 years.I believe that if you can improve at Valorant, you prove to yourself that you can do anything.I'd like the community to feel very close, where everyone knows everyone. To accomplish that, the capacity will be capped at 150-200 members and I'd like to get to that point by the end of this year. The community will open in intervals, starting with 25 slots for founding members. As we learn how to serve these members and build the culture, we will slowly expand and eventually cap out at 150-200 members.
